  • SNAP to learn how to apply for SNAP benefits

SNAP (food stamps) recipients can receive healthy foods through various nutrition programs.

Get the Good Stuff is a program at certain NYC supermarkets. For every $1 you spend using SNAP on eligible fruits, vegetables, and beans, you get a matching dollar (up to $10 per day) that can be used for the next purchase of eligible foods. These matching dollars are added to a Get the Good Stuff pink card that is scanned at the register before payment.

Eligible foods include:

  • Fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs
  • Frozen fruits, vegetables, and beans without added sugar, salt, or fat
  • Canned and jarred fruits, vegetables, beans, and lentils without added sugar, salt, or fat
  • Dried beans, lentils, fruits and vegetables without added sugar, salt, or fat

Learn more about the Get the Good Stuff program.

To start getting free fruits, vegetables, and beans at participating supermarkets, please visit their customer service desk or tell a cashier that you would like to sign up for a pink card.

To check if a store is participating in this program, please check the Get the Good Stuff page. This list is updated on a regular basis.
