By order of the Mayor of the City of New York, Eric L. Adams, all flags shall be lowered to half-staff immediately in memory of the former Vice President of the United States, Dick Cheney.

A subsequent notice will be issued regarding the return of the flags to their full staff position.

This includes all flags – the American flag, the New York State and City flags, and the POW-MIA flag – on all City buildings and stationary flagstaffs throughout the five boroughs.

Dick Cheney served as the 46th Vice President of the United States from 2001 to 2009. His career journey includes serving as Secretary of Defense, White House Chief of Staff, and as a five term Congressman from Wyoming. He passed away at the age of 84 years old.
