The Macy's Fourth of July fireworks show is scheduled to begin around 9:25 PM and last for about 30 minutes. The show will take place on the lower Hudson River and lower East River.

You can view the fireworks from any area with an unobstructed view of the sky above the lower Hudson River and lower East River.

Brooklyn Bridge Closures

On July 4 at 8 AM through July 5 at 4 AM, the Brooklyn Bridge will close in both directions to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

On July 5 from 9 AM to 5 PM, the eastbound inside vehicle lane of the Brooklyn Bridge and part of the pedestrian walkway will be closed to allow cleanup and equipment removal.

FDR Drive Closures and Viewing

Non-ticketed viewing locations for the public will be available along the FDR Drive in Manhattan.

On July 4 starting at 3 PM, the FDR Drive will be shut from East Houston to the Battery Park Underpass in both directions.

Viewing areas open on July 4 at 6 PM. Viewing locations along the elevated portion of the FDR Drive:

  • Montgomery Street and Madison Street
  • Brooklyn Bridge on and off ramps at Robert Wagner Place
  • Broad Street at Water Street

ADA Viewing

  • The NYC Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza with the following access point: East Side of Water Street at Coenties Slip
  • Pier 35 with the following access point: Cherry Street at Rutgers Slip)

Brooklyn Closures and Viewing

Initial closures around the waterfront viewing areas will begin on July 4 at 1 PM.

Designated viewing areas are restricted to ticket holders only. Entry instructions are included with tickets.

Public Transit Information

Streets around viewing locations will be closed to vehicular traffic and parking will be extremely limited. Everyone is encouraged to take public transit.

Subway and bus routes will be operating on a normal Saturday schedule, with crosstown bus lines south of 42nd Street not traveling east of 1st Avenue.

The Clark Street subway station in Brooklyn servicing the 2 and 3 lines will be closed during the event, from 8 PM to 11 PM. Every other station will remain open.

The MTA will be putting additional trains into service to help people get to and from the event.

Screening and Prohibited Items

Everyone will be screened and have their bags checked. Prohibited items include:

  • Large backpacks
  • Large strollers
  • Wagons
  • Coolers
  • Lawn chairs
  • Blankets
  • Drones
  • Alcohol
  • Umbrellas
  • Any other items that could obstruct others’ view or pose a safety risk
